Hi there,

I had a chance to create an activity that help students in English classroom use their Multiple intelligences through the task. Therefore, I think it might be useful for you who are teaching English right now or even those who are students in the college. Imagine that you are teacher in high school and you have a chance to create an activity for your students, this activity also might be helpful for you. I will be pleased to listen to your comment about this activity, just drop your opinion and it will be helpful for me also in order to develop and create other activities for young students.

Activity: Amazing Thailand!!!

Time: 16 periods / one month

Class: 30-35 students

 Objectives:

Students will be able to

  1. use their multiple intelligences through the activities.
  2. give the basic information about Tourist attractions in Thailand in different regions appropriately.

This activity is meant to help student use their Multiple Intelligences through the task after they complete “Amazing Thailand!!!” activity. The students will develop all eight intelligences according to Gardner (1993,1995) regarding to the group and individual task. Thus, the activity divided into two days activity, so the procedures are as following:

 2 periods

3.3   Teacher asks each group to come up and present their mind-mapping in front of the class. (Teacher should encourage each student to get to speak)

3.4   Teacher concludes the first task and talks to students about the next task that each group will have to create the role-play and present the local dance by using the local songs CDs given within 10-15 minutes for each group. Teacher tells students that they can bring any kinds of props for their performance.

  Points of Discussion
  1. Students will use their naturalist intelligence from reading task whereas they have to do some research about their groups region to get the details or information before completing the activity.
  2. Students will use their interpersonal intelligence while they are doing a group work. They also use their logical and linguistic or verbal intelligence through the task that they have to create mind-mapping by sharing their opinions to each other in order to organize their groups thought and transfer into a mind map.

When the SUN has gone !!!

posted on 02 Dec 2007 21:39 by kriengkrai-edu

Hi everyone,

I composed this poem just that I would like to see if I could become a poet (just kidding). Actually, I just want to share one of my masterpieces. Just post some comment whether you like it or not, so it would be my pleasure to hear your opinions and all.

The sun has set, the wind has come
The wind has come, the sun has gone
Away from our heart and caused the darkness upon
The darkness has come, the lonesome then appear

Who dare to ask why the wind has blown the sun,
And caused the darkest mind within thy heart,
Or just that someone wanted to darken the blight
Man came blind and never open his mind to shine again

Who shall say when the wind blows,
The strongest fear in thy heart would roar
With lonesome stay and made the poorest though
Then never try to be the same anymore

May the sun come back, thus the wind no blow
Keep them apart in thy heart and soul
Tomorrow the sun will rise, the wind no blow
Thy heart would be the same and never go

composed by "O"
Have a Great Day.

Reading Through Political Issue

posted on 29 Nov 2007 13:42 by kriengkrai-edu

Hi Everyone!!!

After quite awhile that I have been working on how to adjust or customize my blog, I have followed my plan of study even I upload what I have learned from last week quite late. Anyway, here is what I have learned from the electronic news via Bangkok Post website on Political Issue.

The Issue was about the talk among politicians who are parliamentary candidates on who they are going to support to become the next prime minister. I found that there are some useful verbs and politics terms in this article. Let’s take a look at them.

Race To Parliament: Samak: Banharn won’t be PM: PPP leader says he’s ready to take on the jobYou can read the full article from this link:

http://www.bangkokpost.com/News/26Nov2007_news01.php

Vocabulary Focus: Interesting verbs in Political issue

1.      PPP leader says he’s ready to take on the job.

to take on here means to decide to do something or to agree to be responsible for somebody or something.

2.      Mr Samak ,who had previously tried to convince Mr Banharn to join hands with the pro-Thanksin party,…..

to join hand here means to work together in doing something.

3.      I won’t ever hand over the premiership to him.

to hand over here means to give somebody else your position of power or the responsibility for something

4.      PPP might try to coax Mr. Banharn and Chart Thai into a post-election coalition by offering the veteran politician a chance of becoming prime minister again.

to coax somebody into means to persuade somebody to do something by talking to them in a kind and gentle way.

5.      … an alliance between the Democrats and Chart Thai may have been faltering…..

to falter here means to become weaker or less effective

6.      Mr. Samak also lashed out at critics…

to lash out (at somebody or something) here means to criticize somebody in an angry way.

7.      Mr. Samak retorted by labeling his rival immature and inexperienced.

to retort here means to reply quickly to a comment, in an angry, offended or humorous way.

8.      Suriyasai Katasila yesterday slammed Mr. Banharn for being fickle.

to slam somebody for here means to criticize somebody very strongly (used especially in newspaper).

Not only verbs that are interesting here, I found there are some politic terms that are also good to know and use those words in terms of talking about political issue. Let’s take a look here.

1.      I won’t ever hand over the premiership to him.

premiership means the period or position of being prime minister.

2.      PPP might try to coax Mr. Banharn and Chart Thai into a post-election coalition by offering the veteran politician a chance of becoming prime minister again.

post-election coalition means a government formed by two or more political parties working together.

3.      The outspoken politician said there was a time when he was impressed with the Democrat leader.

outspoken politician means politicians who say exactly what they think, even if this shocks or offends people.

4.      Mr. Abhisit challenged PPP parliamentary candidates to promote their party leader as the next prime minister instead of wooing voters with the image of deposed prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his populist Thai Rak Thai Policies.

parliamentary candidates mean politicians who are trying to be elected for a parliament.

wooing voters mean voters who try to get the support from somebody in order to win the election.

populist (adj.) mean that claims to represent the opinions and wishes of their people

5.      Many election candidates running under the PPP banner are said to be skeptical of Mr. Samak’s attributes as a party leader, pointing in particular to his unpopularity in many constituencies in the North and Northeast.

constituency means a particular group of people in society who are likely to support somebody politically or the people who live in and vote in a particular district.

6.      Suriyasai Katasila yesterday slammed Mr. Banharn for being fickle.

fickle means someone who often changes their mind in an unreasonable way, so that you cannot rely on.

Now, I think that you and I both learned some new vocabulary in Politic areas. I hope that you can pick some of these words and use it in your life.

For example, Don’t try to be such a fickle person otherwise no one would trust you!!!

Thanks for visiting my learning log. If you have something to share with me about English language learning, please feel to share some ideas.
